Wyatt Emmerich is publisher of the Northside Sun, a suburban weekly newspaper and website that covers North Jackson. Wyatt Emmerich is also president of the Emmerich Newspapers, which consists of 25 local newspapers and websites mainly in Mississippi. He is a third-generation newspaper publisher and has worked in the industry for over 40 years.
Wyatt was born in McComb, Mississippi, and was graduated from Greenwood High School. He is an honors graduate of Harvard, where he was editor of the Harvard Crimson, and has an MBA from UCLA. He has worked for the Florida Today, the Dallas Times Herald, the New York Times and was an investment banker specializing in the media industry at Merrill Lynch in New York.
Wyatt writes a weekly column that runs in dozens of newspapers throughout the state. He has won numerous state and national writing awards including Best Columnist twice from the National Newspaper Association He is a former president of the Mississippi Press Association and the Rotary Club of North Jackson. . He has served on numerous civic and non-profit boards.
Wyatt is married to the former Ginny Knight of Taylorsville. They live at 1447 Rebel Drive in northeast Jackson and have three children, John age 22, Lawrence 21 and Ruth age 17. They are members of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he has been a deacon His hobbies are diverse and include golf, tennis, sailing, guitar and speaking French.
