History is Lunch on Clyde Kennard
Today's presentation at History is Lunch was given by Devery Anderson, author of Clyde Kennard: A Slow, Calculate Lynching. Kennard tried integrating USM; was investigated by the Sovereignty Commission; and framed for crimes he did not commit. He was sentenced to Parchman where he did not receive adequate medical care for cancer. USM has since named a building after him and has awarded him a posthumous PhD. His wrongful conviction was also overturned.
