This Week’s History is Lunch
At History is Lunch yesterday, Davis Houck spoke on Emmett Till and the Mississippi Press. It was an interesting lecture where Houck explained how, at first, press accounts were favorable in calling for the convicting of Till᧙s killers. When the NAACP leader put out a statement indicating the entire State of Mississippi and its white citizens, however, the press switched course and began defending the killers.
